Why Nigeria lost to Argentina... Obasi Was Injured

Chinedu Obasi's absence from the Olympic Games football final was due to a prior injury he sustained and not for any other reason.

Nigerians found it difficult to believe Obasi was not listed by Samson Siasia in the final game against Argentina on Saturday despite the work he did in Nigeria's wins over the Ivory Coast and Belgium.

However, KickOffNigeria.com can authoritatively reveal that Obasi was out with a stress fracture on his right leg.

He did not train for two days and since in the last two days, training sessions were closed to the media, the news hardly got out.

Obasi had been in devastating form for Nigeria at the games, crowning his performance with a brace in the semi final against Belgium.

Nigerian stocks?

If the head honcho of the exchange, okereke, can raise N100m in the
name of "Africa for Obama", now we find out the money does not even go
to Obama. Where is the money going? U hear me sooooo? WHERE MONEY DEY GO?
If it were to be in a "developing country", where there is rule, law, and order, it will be someone's responsibility to find out where that money is going. IN a non-developing country like Nigeria, story finish there. If you carry your hard-earned cash and invest in Nigerian stocks, true you will make some quick little money but remember the long run.

There's no police, no law, nobody to catch anybody. When the CEO of your super-whoopa company sell all the stocks and jah with everyone's money - Don't blame me, I told you so. Stock exchange can only be built on a trust foundation. without personal accountability, you can watch you money balloon, yes balloon away in helium.

YarʼAduaʼs mum robbed

From JACOB EDI, Abuja
Tuesday, August 19, 2008

Burglars from hell took caution to the wind before dawn on Monday as they broke into the family house of President YarʼAdua in Katsina and robbed his ageing mother, Hajiya Dada YarʼAdua in her bedroom.

Daily Sun learnt that the robbers beat the security around the house to have access to the room where the about 80-year-old mother of the president was sleeping through the air conditioner opening.

The presidentʼs mum reportedly did not wake up during the operation, as she was believed to have been hypnotized.

A source in Katsina told Daily Sun that Hajiya YarʼAdua only woke up to find that her room was in disorder and some of her jewelries had been removed.

The source, however, said the thieves were unable to unscramble the safe in the room to have access to its contents.

It was gathered that as early as 5 a.m. during the Muslim early morning Subhi prayers, the presidentʼs younger brother, Alhaji Jafaru had reportedly been informed by his mother about the incident. He in turn went to one of the presidentʼs sisters, Hajiya Hadi, to alert her to the development.

It could not be ascertained at press time whether the president had been informed, but it was gathered that the modest family house in Katsina, where the robbery took place was agog with family members and neighbours who were on hand to show their sympathies.

Mondayʼs incident has further raised questions about insecurity in the country where robbers walk easily into the bedroom of the mother of the president, even as there had been reported cases of politically- motivated killings in the state.

It was gathered that just last week, chairman of a local government in the state was killed and his body dumped on the street, just as Muktari Kakumi, assistant director, media, Katsina Agriculture and Rural Development Authority (KTARDA) was reportedly murdered in cold blood recently.

Olympics: Nigeria 2- 0, Cote d' Ivoire‏

Nigeria best Cote d'Ivoire in the all-African show down in the Olympic mens quarter finals. Both sides came out with one focus, attack. They did not dissapoint. The Nigerian back line kept the ever dangerous Cisse and Kalou in chains as they pulled of timely defensive tackles.

Both teams knew each other incredibly well and, as a result, cancelled each other out in the opening 45 minutes. None had total control of the midfield as space was limited due to the close marking.

DUDU Video pick (9ice and 2Face)

Hello Everyone, this is Abdul again from Duduradio.com. I have to admit, I am a big Fan of 9ice and when I heard he hooked up with my boy 2Face, I was very excited to share his new video with u. 9ice as come a long way by doing a lot of colabos with various artists. I just hope he keeps it real and stays with is unique style. I like the fact that he uses the Yoruba language in his hooks and lyrics. 2Face better watch out, this boy is about to take over. The only problem I have is the fact that he used a lot of sample sounds on his album, like most Naija Artists and I know they did not pay any copyright fees to these other artists for using their sounds. But the boy is still talented. Enjoy the video ladies and gents

Nigerian official accused of hiring witch doctor

This is a nice article from Alex Ike Okeke, and I wanted to share it with you guys. Enjoy!!!!

LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) -- Police on Friday arrested the head of a federal agency charged with developing Nigeria's impoverished southern oil region after allegations that the man spent millions of dollars on a witch doctor in hopes vanquishing a rival.

President Umaru Yar'Adua announced Friday that the head of the Niger Delta Development Corporation, Sam Edem, had been suspended from his job after local media reports of Edem's large expenditure on black magic. Police later said he had been arrested.

The police said they were investigating the source of the roughly $4 million Edem reportedly spent on hiring a sorcerer to hex and kill another development official.

The federal government said it was investigating how Edem, a civil servant in a country of low wages, had amassed the fortune he used to engage the sorcerer.

The government said in a statement that Edem wasn't available for comment. It added that he hasn't denied any of the charges.

Although Nigeria's 140 million people are split between Christianity and Islam, black magic is still prevalent in some rural areas.

Police said in a statement that Edem contracted the witch doctor to kill a subordinate who Edem believed harbored him ill will. Edem also wanted the sorcerer to help compel a state governor to award Edem "juicy contracts," according to the police statement.

The police said Edem was "incensed" when none of the work contracted to the witch doctor had been achieved and had demanded a total refund. The witch doctor refused.
Nigeria is regularly ranked among the world's most-corrupt nations. Investigators say some $400 billion has been stolen or squandered since the country's 1960 independence from Britain.

Gov. Orji Uzor Kalu $1.5m Home in Houston Abandoned‏

If we all agree that Kalu and each and every Governor under Obasanjo stole public money in abundance, what sense is there is arguing about whether the stolen money was used to buy one specific property or the other. The fact of the matter is that the person is a thief no more no less.

And since when has the fact that a person was rich before attaining public office been a defence against him or her stealing even more when in power.

Only corrupt minded people defend corrupt politicians

That Orji Kalu and many other Nigerian governors looted their state treasuries is probably not in doubt.
That said we must reist the urge to always jump into a conclusion that every property on a foreign soil
owned by a ciurrent or former Nigerian government official must have been purchased with dirty money.

By all accounts, Orji Kalu was already quite wealthy before he became governor of Abia state. He probably got even wealthier
stealing state anf federal funds when he was in the good books of Preisdent Obasanjo.
If Orji Kalu is wealthy enough to own a airline business that serves currently as the national flag bearer for Gambia and Senegal
(just as Virgin Airlines does for Nigeria), I am at a loss why anyone would think he could not afford to buy the residence shown in the
picture for as mere $1.5 milion with his own funds. It is also not uncommon that a man or woman might decide to buy a property and register it in his or her
spouses for purely legal reasons.
Even though the house in the picture is beautiful and majestic, there isn't anything that unique about it that one cannot find in wealthy residential districts of Abuja, Kaduna, Sokoto or Lagos.
If you have clear evidence that this property was purchased with stolen money, I think you should be supplying the information to Madam Waziri
at the EFCC, rather than titilating us with pictures of a bautiful house. The fact that most Nigerians might never be able to affors such a house
or even have a need for it does not necessarily mean that everyone who owns such a house is a thief.
